Update
Solitude/Relationships
Sorry to miss the usual Thursday morning release this week! We had some internet wonkiness happening, but all is back to normal now.
Last week I found something delightful in my inbox—looks like dystopia might be coming back after all. Are you as excited as I am? Me and my young adult dystopian manuscript are ready. (ICYMI, I shared a sneak peek for the Hoard here.) In the meantime, I’m keeping my eyes (and mind, and typing fingers) on that witchy murdery fantasy story, which continues to expand.
It’s been a great summer for at least one thing—new SFF books. Speaking of which, a new round of New American Voices Awards were announced, and also the Hugo Awards! (How’d the ceremony go? Don’t ask.) Can we all just agree that there’s power in names? We should all have a prolonged period of solitude in life. But, we’re only as interesting as our relationships. Do you know the difference between high and low fantasy?
Finally, FYI, I’ve started an archive of all the Hoard special content pinned to the top of the MONSTROSITY feed. With another awesome Author’s Lair interview releasing next week, more giveaways coming soon and monstor profiles starting this fall, this will be your easy go-to for all these features as MONSTROSITY expands.
Mood
Reading
Per usual my audio reading is going much faster than my print reading, and thus I’m almost done with Little Fires Everywhere. I’m excited to give the Hulu show a try when I’m done—with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington at the helm, I can’t imagine it could be anything short of superb.
Meanwhile, The Moment Between, the debut of my good author friend Gareth Frank, is a lovely story of complex characters I’m happy to take my time with.
