Update
The only good thing about 2020 is the books. The virtual Emmys weren’t (quite) as weird as you’d expect. Another ambitious virtual event, the National Book Festival, starts tomorrow. You can now shop the National Book Awards Long List.
If you’ve been experiencing a lot of writers block, my friend and author coach Elisabeth Kaufman may have a new tool for you—a Tarot deck for creativity.
Polly Pocket gets nerdy with delightful reimagined sets. Tatiana Maslany is bringing She-Hulk to the small screen. RIP to the one and only Mrs. James Bond (and Tyrell matriarch). Meet Courtney from 1986. Bring your park experience to your home for socially distanced Jurassic Park fun.
Stop calling Black girls “grown.” A poignant reminder that #ownvoices labels are for lifting up, not tearing down. Our world has blown past dystopian and gone deep into apocalyptic.
Rest in peace, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Reading
I’ve been busy with the books this month! Felix Ever After was a heartfelt contemporary young adult romance and an important voice we don’t get enough of. Invisible Women left me infuriated by remarkable breadth of ways in which women have quite literally been counted out. The Moment Between is a very special read for me, because it’s the debut of one of my first author friends and critique partners, Gareth Frank. And the Beasts Made of Night I’ve only just started, but I’m so excited to see for myself Onyebuchi’s remarkable storytelling.
